My Saturday......

It was one of those days when you wanted to just stay in the house and vegetate but alas theres no food. Yep I haven't been a very good housewife of late and although I had a veg box delivered on Friday, I haven't actually done a ''proper'' ( as hubby calls it) supermarket shop in about 3 weeks. ''So what are we having for lunch'' he asks this morning before he took the dogs out, to which I replied ''I don't know, theres nothing in the cupboards''. He left with the dogs and I was left feeling like a failure that I hadn't anything in to feed him with. And then a light bulb moment. I still had a Hokido squash from last weeks veg box, so I managed to rustle up a very scrummy (if i do say so myself) squash and lentil soup. I even found some rolls in the freezer which I quickly defrosted and warmed in the oven. Now that's what I call a lunch. But I didn't stop there.

I proceeded to make a Victoria sponge (with only slightly out of date margarine) and homemade strawberry jam from last summer. yyyyyyuuuuummmmm.

This afternoon, I treated myself to a slice of cake and a cuppa.

Whilst having a good old look through some of my spring/summer themed Tilda books for ideas. I have ideas a plenty and tonnes of things I want to make but............i never seem to get my bottom (being polite) into gear and get on with anything. Like dear old Mary Poppins my middle name is procrastination, and I ssssooooo hate being like it. I really do my own head in on a daily basis. Any tips of how to gain some motivation would be greatly appreciated. Any how....the cake and tea were scrummy.

In fact I polished the slice off rather quickly. One minute I was reading my pattern book and the next minute an empty plate???? surly I didn't eat all that did I????

Well apparently I did, as you can see from Woody's not to happy with mummy for not giving me any expression on his face.

Well I even performed another miracle this evening and produced dinner without going shopping. Will have to get some shopping in tomorrow though.....I've run out of wine.

Well off to do a bit of Internet surfing and procrastinating.

An Award and Random Pics.....

Hello! I'm blommin freezing today, although the weathers quite nice outside. Nothing particularly exciting to tell you all, so I've put a few of pics on to show you. Firstly Some lovely pink Hyacinths, they just got too tall for their pot and no amount of tying them up was helping so I popped them in a jug on my table instead.

I took these on Tuesday when the sun was streaming in the dining room and it looked really pretty in there, although it doesn't look that sunny in the photo.

Here a lovely handmade fairy in a jar that hubby bought for my birthday a few years ago now, she was made by a lady from e-bay and I think she's really cute!

And the last photo is of a very tired Woody, taken on Sunday, after lots of running around and catching his ball!

Indoors Day.......

For Bex my button stash....
____________________________________
It's been too cold to venture out today, we've even had a bit of snow for a while this afternoon and more snow is forecast overnight. My cold has freshened up again today, and I've still got a bad cough. Am I ever going to be free of this lurgy? I've been poorly since the beginning of November and just can't seem to shift it. I think working with children has got something to do with it. So I had a bath this morning but couldn't be bothered to wash my hair it can wait until tomorrow, I've not applied a scrap of makeup and I've worn my old comfy clothes all day. I've spent a fair bit of time on the pooter and the rest of the time sewing with my Merlin DVD on. I've made these today and a few other bits for the giveaway. Bekimarie, I will be posting your goodies tomorrow, so keep an eye out for the Postie.
I went back onto the CK website to check out the bags again, and it appears that the messenger bag is unavailable at the moment, so I ordered myself the bucket bag. I guess the other one being out of stock made my mind up for me. Although, when I say ordered, I think I've ordered it. I had no confirmation e-mail like I normally do, so I e-mailed them today and I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I'm also STILL WAITING for the Laura Ashley fabric I ordered over a week ago. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow, I will be chasing that up as well, I need it to make some bunting. :o(
_____________________________________
I'm sitting here thinking oh bu**er its Monday tomorrow, and the weekends flown by and I really don't want to go to work tomorrow :o(. I'd love a few months off to get the house looking how I want it and to make all the crafts that are whizzing around my head constantly. I find myself saying, ''where does the time go'' and ''it only felt like yesterday'' and ''blimey that time already'', an awful lot lately. Is this the same for everyone or is it just me?
As I don't have many pics to show you today, I thought I'd finish with a picture of our dinner, (like you do), Tuna Pasta Bake. We haven't had this in ages and it was scrummy.

Hope I haven't bored you to death. (((((hugs)))) Pixiedust xxxx

Wednesday Musings.....

Morning all, no pic to show you today I'm afraid. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I'm not feeling too great today, got a cough and an upset tummy, my knee hurts and I'm feeling old and sorry for myself. :o(

Just got back with the dog and its bloomin freezin outside today. All I want to do is curl up in my PJ's with the heating up and watch a good old film like Summer Magic, or Pollyanna. I think I might order my shopping online in a minute and then a bit of sewing and off to work. My house is so neglected at the moment, but as soon as Sundays craft fair is done, I need to get stuck in to some cleaning.

Have a nice day all. xxx

Baking-n-Stuff

Hello everybody. Been a bit busy and stressy here so haven't blogged much lately. Basically our boiler died, which was expected, as hubby's been nursing it on for years, but still doesn't help the fact that we had to shell out a vast sum of money for a new boiler, pump, tank and some pipework. Trouble is its still not working properly, and the guys been out three times already. He's actually done a good job, the problem lies with the initial pipework when the house was built. Hubby thinks he knows how to remedy it fingers crossed, so is off to the diy store after work today.

I fancied doing a bit of baking this morning, so made a batch of Ginger Nut Biscuits and a courgette loaf. This should hopefully last a while and will do for hubby's lunchbox this week. Save buying cake and biscuits. I'm hoping to get away with not doing a big shop this week. I'm just going to pop out later to get a few essentials, bread, milk (wine) etc.

We seem to have cupboards full of tins and packets and a freezer full of stuff but nothing to eat, so I think we are going to be having a few unusual dinners this week to use it all up. Besides shopping has got so expensive lately we need to save the pennies.
I'm in the process of making a sheep at the moment. I'm hoping to have him finished today and will try and post a pic of him on here later. In the meantime here's a piccie of the little man with his favourite soft toy.

Tuesdays Tittle Tattle....

Well, got a load more decorating done at the weekend. BUT......trying to paint one of those bloomin radiator covers is a nightmare, cos you have to get into all the holes with the paint. After a while hubby and I abandoned it, cos we were running out of patience. Maybe we will tackle a bit more tonight.

Picked up table from my mums, but unfortunately its going to be a bit small, so we will use it in the conservatory instead, and try and get another second hand table. Will have another look on e-bay later.

I've been making a bookmark for a swap on a forum I belong to, and hope to have that finished in the next couple of days. I've been waiting for the posty today, incase he bought me my bookmark but sadly not. Also I'm waiting for a PIF through the post, the anticipation its just like Christmas. I hope to put a PIF up on my blog in the next couple of weeks, so watch this space.

Spent ages yesterday giving the bathroom a good clean, whilst telling myself not to let it get so bad in future and clean as I go. I'm always having these little conversations with my self, but I don't seem to listen. Bathroom is all sparkly and clean now, lovely. And today I cleaned the fridge, I bet the house thinks it's her birthday!

That Friday Feeling.....

WHOOPEEE Its Friday, and I've got a weeks holiday now. It's very muggy here, but the sun has finally broken through the clouds. Lots to do around the house and garden, so next week will mainly be spent doing that. But I know once it's done I'll feel so much better. Also hoping to get the dining room finished next week, don't know what hubby will have to say about that, but its niggling at me now, and I need it done so I can get in there and titivate.

I handed in my notice at work on Wednesday, and leave in three weeks. I have a new job as a Play worker, which I think I'm going to really enjoy.

Hopefully taking Woody for a nice walk along the Shore this afternoon with a couple of friends and their dogs, I'm sure he'll love that.

Look what the posty delivered.....

I've been waiting for these to arrive, this is a couple of bars of soap I ordered and a candle. Isn't the packing pretty, I had to take a photo. This company use all organic and natural products and their stuff smell's scrummy. I've got a soap in Myrrh rose, and one in Moonsand, as well as a candle in Myrrh rose. I discovered Merrywood at the Christmas Market in Winchester, where I bought a Myrrh rose soap, my hands cleared right up when I used it, as I suffer from really dry and cracked hands. One of the things on my to do list, is to have a go at soapmaking.
Merrywood's website isn't finished yet, but you can get their address from the main page and e-mail address for a catalogue.

Also in the post today was the two fat quarters of Laura Ashley fabric from e-bay, that I've ordered for my first Quilt Along square. All I have to do now is make a start on it. I love these gorgeous pale pinks, and hopefully the whole quilt, will be in similar fabric. I'm only buying it as I need it at the moment, in case I don't get on with it.

I also had my Coffee bean and sunburst Linen in the post today, for my stuffed doll and animal project. Once I have one finished, I'll pop up a pick. I'm working on a Hare at the moment.
Been out and about again today. Had to pop to the bakers to get my mum and hubby a Lardy cake. Then I went over mum's to pick up my picnic table for camp that they'd borrowed. She gave me a lovely thick and heavy red mohair jumper she'd found in a charity shop, not sure if its my cup of tea normally, but is soooo warm and soft, and is perfect for camp at the weekend. She'd also finished my knitted hot water bottle cover. Mum's not too good at making stuff, but I like it, just because she made it. From mums I went to Garsons, its the only place I know locally that sell Mead, £10 a bloomin bottle though, but you can't go to Beltane camp without a bottle of mead. I then went to Westlands Farm shop to get burgers, sausages and bacon for camp and a box of duck eggs, which are scrummy. I was tempted to buy a goose egg as they had these for sale at 90p each. They were massive and I don't think I'd ever seen a goose egg before. Then back home to Woody and my post. So far so good, except for all the bloomin rain.

A Storm and my Tea Cup

Well we had some weird weather this morning. Got up at about 7.30 and it was lovely and sunny out and the birds were tweeting, then at about 9, it went really dark, just after hubby had left to walk the boy! He got to the Nature Reserve started to walk, but didn't have his coat, so went back to the Landy and took the boy over Granfers for a play up the yard, so he could stand in the shed! We had really loud thunder and lighting, and I had just got out of the shower, but chickened out of using my hair dryer, I know I'm a silly cow. Needless to say I've had fluffy hair all day, so stayed at home, and have drunk tea all day.

Helped Hubby put the coving up in the dining room, and started making a Hare. Got no-where to put my sewing machine at the moment, so I'm stitching it by hand.

The putting up the tent trial went well yesterday, except we put it on inside out to start with, then forgot the spacers and the plastic caps, but I have written myself an idiots guide so next Friday, fingers crossed, I should manage it.

It's Friday, roll on the weekend.....

Well, its a lovely day outside, the birds are singing the sun is shining, and I've got to go to work at 11.00, huffs and stomps feet!

My guest bed arrived yesterday, ready for Beltane camp next weekend. Hubby showed me how to put it up, and then i had to test it of course. Its more comfortable than I thought it would be, but its a nightmare to get back up again, and that was without my legs being buried in a sleeping bag. We've got to get up in the loft this weekend and get all my camp gear out, check what I need and give it a wash and brush up. Also need to have a lesson on putting up a four man tent in the garden, that will be interesting and could involve squabbles me thinks.

Two of my books that I ordered turned up in the post, the Crafting Christmas Gifts is particularly good and I haven't been able to put it down. I'm really inspired and excited to start making. I can't wait for the Spring book to turn up. I'm still waiting for two more books in the post and some soap I ordered. So I may have a nice surprise when I get home from work this afternoon, I'll let you know.

Random Rambling....

Not too much to write about today. I'm sitting at the laptop at the moment with a hot mug of tea next to me and a hot wheatie under my feet, coz I'm bloomin freezin! Been to work today, that felt like time had stood still. I did bite the bullet and re-join slimming world AGAIN this evening, so I have made a productive first step towards trying to lose weight. I also applied for that job yesterday gulp...We'll have to see what comes of it, but theres no harm in applying. I've still got the urge to have a go at patchwork but there's no classes near here it seems, so I will have to teach myself; but I shouldn't start any crafts until I've got the house spring cleaned and organised. Hopefully this weekend I'm gonna give myself a shove and make a start with these plans. Whilst writing I would also like to thank Solstice Dreamer for helping me get to grips with this linking words to links thingy.....did you see what I did there? lol

Get up and go.......

This fridge magnet which sits right at the top of my fridge sums me up completely, especially at the moment. My get up and go, has definitely got up and gone! I just don't seem to be enthusiastic about much at all at the moment. There is loads of spring cleaning to be done around the house, which is getting me down, and niggling at me. My weights getting me down, but once again I'm my own worst enemy, and theres loads of craft projects I want to do, and keep meaning to do, but never seem to get around to doing. I'm really burying my head in the sand at the moment, and need a good kick up the backside. I've tried to give myself a good talking too to no avail and if anyone else try's to, like hubby for instance, I immediately rebel and do the opposite. This is something I've always done and seems to be in my nature; definitely not one of my better points. I could do with a few weeks off work to get everything straight around the house and make time to start my crafts. Really though I need to stop making excuses and get my bum into gear and just get on with it. Sorry for ranting on, but it always feels better to get your thoughts written down. Its like sending an e-mail to the universe asking for some guidance. I'll stop rambling now.

Phoebe - my little munchkin 5 today!

I thought it was about time Phoebe had a bit of web space, as Woody's been hogging the limelight of late. This is Phoebe 5 year old today moggy, Happy Birthday Puss. She's also known as Angel cat, little munchkin as well as mummy's black and white cat and affectionately known as Bubba.
She's a very slender and tiny little cat, she's still kitten sized and has the most amazing silky coat.
Here she is checking out my basil seedlings. She's soooo timid though she loves hubby and me to bits but won't go near anyone else. Last summer we had a BBQ and had friends in the garden till quite late. She wanted to come in but wouldn't come pass us lot, so I made everyone hide in the shed until I could get her in! It was quite funny at the time and they've never let me forget it.

Its been sunny and hot here all day today. I've managed to get two loads of washing on the line and have pottered around. To be honest I've really wasted the day, there's been so much i could have done, but couldn't be bothered. Hubby will be home for tea in a Mo so i better get moving!

Ten little things that make me smile.....

I was thinking today about the little things in life that make me smile, and have compiled a list of ten, here goes!
  1. A wagging tail when you get home from work (In woody's case a whole wagging back end)
  2. The popping sound when breaking the lid on a new jar of coffee
  3. The smell of a bonfire, aahh
  4. A purring cat, sitting on your lap
  5. A sit down, with a cup of tea and a biscuit
  6. A hot bath, listening to Loreena McKennitt
  7. Popping bubble wrap
  8. Waking up for work and remembering its Saturday!
  9. A text message from hubby, telling me he loves me
  10. Watching the birds on the bird table

Why don't you all have a go, it will make you smile!

That missing hour.....

Where did the weekend go? This week seemed to drag all the time I was at work, and then hurray the weekend was here, but blink and you could have missed it. I blame that missing hour! Went out with the girls on Friday night for a friends birthday, it was OK but I returned £25 lighter and probably 1/2 Stone heavier. Do you know it was £5.25 for a glass of dry white wine. I think that is a ridiculous price. When the waitress bought the drinks over I asked if my wine should be in a pint glass like my friends coke if it was costing that much. Needless to say I didn't have another glass of wine!

We had quite a productive day yesterday, but it did seem to fly by. We got out the front and weeded the border. The miniature fruit trees and blackberry bushes we put in have started to bud. Also managed to clear the pots out in the back garden and hubby mowed the lawn. We then did a bit of decorating in the dining room. He put on a new plug socket and rubbed the skirting down and I painted the coving. Still loads to do in there yet, but can't wait till its finished. Popped over mum and dads, and in laws as well, so busy day.

Still Raining....

As you can see Woody is a well and truly a part of the family. You can't even read the paper without him being included. He's such a daddy's boy!

I had another bash at making lemon curd today. This time it set quite quickly and is a lot thicker than the last batch, it tastes great too.

It's still raining here, so just spending the day pottering around the house.

Rain, Rain, Go Away.....

I thought I'd put up a few pics of the bargain flowers I bought this week. They're very colourful and thought they would brighten up everyone's day. It's still bloomin raining here. Woody and I got a bit wet on our walk this morning, the little man looked like he'd had a perm. :o)

I've just discovered Etsy via blogging and it's great. Basically people put their handmade items up for sale on there, it's quite good. I found a lady in Yorkshire who makes the most amazing jumpers from recycled materials. They all have pixie hoods, which I love. Trouble is with postage will cost about £100, which i don't have at the moment sigh. I don't buy clothes very often, as trying them on depresses me and I come back feeling fatter than when i went. But this particular jumper was great. Worth slimming into if it didn't fit.
This is a pic of Woody with his Easter duck, it was only 99p and it quacks! He likes it anyway. He's just emptied the contents of his toy box all over the lounge floor. We have a pheasant, a frog, a puppy, and big fluffy ball, two tennis balls and his duck!
Think I might get in the kitchen in a minute and make a Victoria sponge and maybe some coconut macaroons. Got to cook hubby some dinner tonight, but I'm out with the girls for a meal as its T's birthday. But I might put a little bottle of wine in my handbag to save a few quid. :o)

Mondays Ramblings...

Well for the past two weeks, I've managed to shave £20 off the weekly shopping bill. I'm quite chuffed with myself. If i can keep this up that's saving £80 a month, that's what we were almost spending a week. I've been busy trying to cook a lot from scratch and only using the oven when I can fill it right up, saving on gas.

Looking forward to Ostara weekend, hopefully we can get some more decorating done, that's if hubby isn't playing down the shed on his landrover. Apparently we're waiting for a diesel pump to be delivered this week that he's bought on e-bay.

Happy St Patricks Day!

Bored...

I thought I'd post again today, as I'm feeling bored and unsettled this evening. I haven't watched TV in over a week. It doesn't seem to do anything for me at the moment, I can't concentrate, not even on dancing on ice the final.

Had a trip to B&Q today to get bits for decorating our dining room. It's getting there now, that's the trouble when you have a handyman husband, everyone else wants a bit of him. We had a load of vouchers from our wedding last year that we've been spending on decorating, which is great as it doesn't feel like we're actually spending money. Got radiator cover and shelves, paint, sockets and switches. I can't wait to be in there making it just how i want it. Saw a great table on e-bay last night but hubby said it's too soon to be getting that yet. That told me then!

Been busy baking again today, made a Victoria sponge cake and coconut muffins, lovely.
