Sewing Some Cath Kidston

I bet your thinking not another post! I go a month with no posts and now lots! As the sewing bug has hit Pixie towers, I thought it was about time I made the bag that accompanies Cath Kidston's Sew! I've had the book since before Christmas and I keep looking at the bag kit included thinking I must make that; and then putting it off until another day.
But today I got around to making it. I've only ever made one bag before so this was a bit of a change for me.
Me being me though, I decided to make some changes to make it more usable. I had some lovely red with white spot globaltex fabric in my stash which I used to line it, and make it more substantial.

I also decided to stitch on the straps to make it stronger and just use the side buttons as a detail.

I'm so pleased with how it turned out, its so small and cute, but I can still get all the essentials in it and still have room for more.
Now time to show you what goodies the postie bought today. I have been a little naughty and ordered a few bits from Panduro hobby. First some lime fabric and some seaside buttons. oooppps forgot to rotate the pic.
And some papercraft items which are just too pretty for words. Can't wait to use these. I think they'll be making an appearance in future swaps.
I had a great idea for another swap today, but I won't host it just yet as I know there have been a lot running at the moment and I'm sure you could all do with a break from swaps for a while.

Just a short post today, off to cook hubby's tea now.

Throwing my toys out of the pram!!!!!

I've been desperate to get back into crafting and sewing again, so over the last couple of days I've been planning lots of things I'm going to make and I've had all my sewing books sprawled across the house. Over the weekend I started to make a tall angel from the latest Tilda book. I'm pleased with how the angel has turned out, so now the fun part (or so i thought) making her lovely dress.
I sat at the dining room table, picked a lovely piece of fabric, drew my pattern on, pinned the bodice and arms, stitched the bits that needed stitching and cut it all out, including a large square for the skirt. I put the skirt section to one side and began to attach the sleeves to the bodice...........I thought it was going too well. For starters trying to work out how the sleeves attached to the bodice was a headache, then I finally had the light bulb moment and figured it out.....eureka.....so began to stitch them in. One disaster led to another and although one sleeve is in perfectly the other won't fit after many attempts......so the ******* bodice and sleeves are gracing the floor on the other side of the room. To top it all off, whilst I was stitching, Beau puppy had decided to steal the skirt section and hubby called from the lounge saying ''did you want that piece of fabric the puppy's got''. AAAAAHHHHHHHH the fabric is fine, but will need to be washed and ironed again. The air was seriously blue in our house last night I can tell you. I thought sewing was supposed to be a relaxing pastime! This morning now that I've calmed down, I may attempt the dress again, and IF!!!! I get it finished today I'll post up a pic.
On a lighter note, I'm having a few hours out with my mum today. Its something we never do so it should be quite nice. We're going to visit Cheselpeake mill and possibly Garsons to check out the Christmas displays and have a spot of lunch out. When I return I should be calm enough to tackle operation angel dress! lol.
Also the lovely Mel Mel has given me these awards, thanks so much hun! xxx

I'm to link to Mel Mel, pop the awards in my sidebar, tell you all seven things you don't know about me and pass the awards on to a few deserving bloggers, so here goes.

Some me time.......

I've made quite a lot of late, but it's all flown off to lovely new owners in the form of swaps and giveaways. So as I had a day off on Thursday, I decided I'd made something for me to keep. I wore sloppy joes all day not a scrap of makeup and ignored the looming housework, got out my sewing machine and created these.
I made myself a little Easter Hare in pretty spring colours. I think I will call her sunny, ''Sunny the Hare''.

After making my spring swaps, I wanted to make myself a Hare in a pot too.

I've spent a few hours in the kitchen today, made a shepherds pie for my in laws and a batch of scrummy lemon curd, and some cornflake cakes. I'm doing another car bootsale tomorrow, so will be up very early, must be bloody mad! Then tomorrow evening we've got mum and dad over for dinner. So a busy day tomorrow.

I've had a terrific lot of post this week, I just can't believe it really. Look what came in the post for me today.

A gorgeous gift from Madmummy. I really wasn't expecting this so was a lovely surprise. The place mat and heart are all scrumdidlyumpscious in this pretty Easter fabric.
As I'm writing this post I'm watching Britain's got talent. It's bloomin good too, laughing my head off here.
Have a lovely weekend and fantastic Easter.

My Pegrail is Finished...... EDIT

Here's my finished peg rail! Hubby made it, and I painted it. I've put a few bits on it, not sure if they'll stay there yet, I may still move things around. Its in my kitchen so is for practical items, like my apron, as well as pretties. Please ignore the decor, I really hate our kitchen, and would love a new one and have it all decorated. The kitchen is the original 80's one and we painted the walls yellow about 9 or 10 years ago. I loved it then, but hate it now. Our kitchen is more shabby, than chic, and my cafe net curtain could probably considered vintage by now!

I made this heart yesterday, using Laura Ashley BiBi fabric, with one of the vintage buttons I got on Sunday. It has a lovely rose scent, and I'm really pleased with it. I'm going to make some more of these and pop in my blog shop this week. I'm also making some more bunting. Its smaller and is for our bedroom.

Scrummy pancakes for tea tonight, can't wait. HAPPY PANCAKE DAY!
EDIT.......
A plea to all my blogging friends. Does anyone have a fat quarter or similar size piece of orange or terracotta linen or linen mix fabric, that I could swap for another piece of fabric from my stash. I can't find any of this fabric anywhere.
Cheers My Dears......

Bunting and Daffs........

Hello folks. Sorry I've neglected you all this weekend, I've been really busy. I went to Stockbridge on Saturday with hubby, but was a bit disappointed. Not much there and what was there was very expensive, I mean £70 for one cushion is just ridiculous. Saturday night I went over my friends for a party so had a late night and was up again at 5.30am to go to London to Hugglets. More on that in a minute.
I finished stitching my bunting yesterday and here it is. I'm pretty pleased with it, and want to make more now.

Here's a couple of pics of the daffs my neighbour bought over for me on Friday, they're so pretty, and it really feels like Springs in the air when I see daffs.

Well back to Hugglets, which is the bear fair in Kensington. As you all know my sister in law makes lovely artist bears and we had a stall at the fair. I was amazed at just how busy the fair was, considering we're in a recession, the place was jumping. I forgot to take my camera, but my SIL is going to e-mail me some pics to put on here. I was quite good and didn't buy a bear, but I did get some small pieces of fabric with tiny print on, which is great for patches and stuff.

Also got these lovely buttons for my crafting projects. They are hand made and lovely. I think the ducks are my favourite.

This little collection of mother of pearl vintage buttons cost £2.50, bargain!

and I couldn't resist this little fella. The lady that makes the buttons also makes these.
We got diverted going to London as the A3 was shut aarrrhhh, but managed to get there on time thankfully. We were stuck in loads of traffic on the way home too, so didn't get home until nearly 8pm. By that time I was knackered, so put my PJ's on, watched Larkrise to Candleford and went to bed. I still feel really tired today, but theres so much I want to do.
Thats all for now folks catch you later.

A Day at Home........

Well after a month of waiting my Laura Ashley fabric that I ordered in the sale a month ago finally arrived yesterday morning. But no crafting was done yesterday, as I went out to lunch with my parents and brother as its little brothers 25th Today. We had a lovely time. We must have been tiny tots the last time we went out as a family with just the four of us. Today I wanted a nice day pottering around at home. I still got up at 6 am as usual, and did a bit of blogging. I had a nice hot bath and didn't put a scrap of makeup on. My next door neighbour knocked the door this morning and gave me a bunch of daffodils which was very sweet, and I'm looking forward to them flowering. I did some washing and few household chores, then made a pattern for some bunting and cut that out, and made myself comfy on the sofa and started to stitch it up whilst watching 'Tales from the Green Valley' which I've rented from amazon.
And then, I thought I'd have a bash at making iced buns. I've never made any before, and was pretty pleased how they turned out, although they are bigger than I thought they'd be, so next time I'll make them smaller, also the batch on the top shelf were in a tad too long and got too brown but they taste scrummy, hubby loved them too.
I'm hoping to finish stitching the bunting tonight so will post a pic tomorrow. xx

Indoors Day.......

For Bex my button stash....
____________________________________
It's been too cold to venture out today, we've even had a bit of snow for a while this afternoon and more snow is forecast overnight. My cold has freshened up again today, and I've still got a bad cough. Am I ever going to be free of this lurgy? I've been poorly since the beginning of November and just can't seem to shift it. I think working with children has got something to do with it. So I had a bath this morning but couldn't be bothered to wash my hair it can wait until tomorrow, I've not applied a scrap of makeup and I've worn my old comfy clothes all day. I've spent a fair bit of time on the pooter and the rest of the time sewing with my Merlin DVD on. I've made these today and a few other bits for the giveaway. Bekimarie, I will be posting your goodies tomorrow, so keep an eye out for the Postie.
I went back onto the CK website to check out the bags again, and it appears that the messenger bag is unavailable at the moment, so I ordered myself the bucket bag. I guess the other one being out of stock made my mind up for me. Although, when I say ordered, I think I've ordered it. I had no confirmation e-mail like I normally do, so I e-mailed them today and I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I'm also STILL WAITING for the Laura Ashley fabric I ordered over a week ago. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow, I will be chasing that up as well, I need it to make some bunting. :o(
_____________________________________
I'm sitting here thinking oh bu**er its Monday tomorrow, and the weekends flown by and I really don't want to go to work tomorrow :o(. I'd love a few months off to get the house looking how I want it and to make all the crafts that are whizzing around my head constantly. I find myself saying, ''where does the time go'' and ''it only felt like yesterday'' and ''blimey that time already'', an awful lot lately. Is this the same for everyone or is it just me?
As I don't have many pics to show you today, I thought I'd finish with a picture of our dinner, (like you do), Tuna Pasta Bake. We haven't had this in ages and it was scrummy.

Hope I haven't bored you to death. (((((hugs)))) Pixiedust xxxx

A big Thanks to A Thrifty Mrs for organising the swap, its been fab.

Todays Craft Fair......

Well after much, toil and very sore fingers from all that sewing, we set off for the craft fair today. Heres a pic of the stall after I'd sold two items, as I forgot to take a pic before then.
As usual, I spent more than I made, when I saw this gorgeous little bracelet and had to buy it. I just love the colour.

My sister in law made the bears and this Beatrix potter hangy. I think its lovely. It didn't sell, but I know she wants to give it as an Xmas gift anyway, so never mind.
I won't be buying my cottage in the country yet. I sold a few bits, but didn't make much, so will be putting it all on etsy in the next few days.

It was a lovely fair, but the people were just not coming in. :o(

This is the Christmas angel that I was up until 12.00 finishing. I still have her too.
Had a nice day until it was home time. The exit from the car park is really tight, and I managed to scrape and dent the side of my car. I'm so cross, and hubby wasn't best pleased either. So the little money I made will be going towards a car repair now. :o( Its just not my year this year. Still I'm enjoying a quiet night in now with a glass of wine.
