Charity Shop Bargain & a Dilemma....

How excited was I when I spotted these in the charity shop this morning. I practically took someone out with my shopping bag as I dashed to rescue them from the rail. A set of four Rosali Paisley print pillow cases, and guess how much I paid?..........................£1 because the shelf was marked up at the wrong price, bargain. They are in lovely condition but whats a girl to do, do I keep them as pillow cases for our bed? or cut them up for crafting? what do you think?

My second dilemma of the day is, after drooling over the Cath Kidston spring catalogue yesterday and wanting everything in there, lol, I decided that I will get myself a new bag, but which one? Do I go for the bucket bag above or the messenger bag below? Please Help I can't decide. I'm absolutely loving this spray flowers print.

My Giveaway is now closed and I will be picking the winner later. Good Luck folks. xxxx

I Love Making Stuff.....

Heres a Picture of my latest creation which I've had so much fun making. I couldn't show you a pic until now because she was for my Valentine Swap Buddie Mel, but now that Mel's received her parcel I can show you some pics.
I will be making one for myself soon, to sit with the angels and lambs on my dresser.

A big Thanks to A Thrifty Mrs for organising the swap, its been fab.

Waiting for a Parcel?......

Firstly thanks for the dunking comments on my previous post. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who dunks. It would be interesting to see just how many of the population do dunk, don't you think? Anyway, Tillybud left a comment to check out Peter Kays Biscuit Dunking on You Tube. Well I did and I've been sat here practically wetting myself in hysterics, its so funny, please check it out.

Whilst reading through some of your blogs of late, there seems to be a lot of you waiting in for parcels or missing parcels when your out etc, and whilst on You Tube earlier, I spotted a Lee Evans sketch called parcel Force, which is hilarious and so true. So if you want a giggle please check it out. (If you don't like swearing, don't).

I will be doing the draw for my giveaway tomorrow, so if you haven't already entered and want to, please click here.

EDIT

I've added a biscuit dunking poll on my sidebar for a laugh. xxxx

Yummy.......edited

It's definitely a good post week this week. The lovely Anita sent me this yummy giant chocolate heart hobnob that she'd made today as a Thank you. Anita is getting married in a few months time and I lent her my garter for her something borrowed and blue. Bless you sweetie, I really didn't expect anything in return, its just nice to help.

I've eaten nearly half already, but it was spotted by some strange brown and white hairy critter with long wavy ears, AAAAAGGGGGHHHH, what could it be????????

Can you guess who it is yet?

Well I had to share a bit with my little man didn't I. Woody loves hobnobs.

I did dunk a bit in my tea, it just has to be done, don't you think? I wonder if the queen dunks????

Sesame Cookies for Chinese New Year...

Well because its Chinese New Year, my boss asked me to make something Chinese for the children at after school club to try. So I found this recipe on the the net and made these sesame cookies. I did sneakily sample one and they are quite nice. The recipe didn't make as many as I hoped so I think I may be a few short, so I'm hoping that a few of the children won't want one, but I doubt that's likely to happen, When I took gingerbread men in, they went mad!
I've also been busy making something that I'm chuffed to bits with, but can't say anymore or show you pics until my swap Buddie has received it.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway, you have until midday Saturday.

10,000 Hits and a Giveaway.......

Morning Folks. Well overnight my blog received 10,000 hits! Its amazing to think I've achieved this in less than a year, and that so many people have read my everyday ramblings. I'm completely addicted to blogging now and have been in contact with so many lovely people, who I have lots in common with. Most of my friends and family think I'm bonkers when I go on about my blog and talk about fellow bloggers like I've known them for years, but that's just how blogging is, Don't you think? I'd like to say a big Thank you to all my regular blog buddies who I'd like to think of as friends now, for regularly popping by to say hello and always being there when you fancy a chat or a cyber hug, so I've decided to hold a giveaway to celebrate my 10,000 hits. I'm not sure what the goodies will be yet, but its bound to include at least one or two hand made items. So if you'd like to leave a comment on this post, I will put your name in the hat. I will be doing the draw some time Saturday evening, so the closing date will be midday on Saturday. I will get Mr Pixie to pick the name with I suspect, a little help from Woody. lol.

And heres a few new pics of my Hyacinths in flower. I can't believe how quickly they've grown, and they smell gorgeous.

Good Week....

Hi Folks, its turning out to be a good week here at Pixie Towers, well for Mrs Pixie anyway. I received my Valentine swap parcel from the gorgeous Mel, which I love, and today I see that I've won Daisies giveaway. I never win anything so I'm so super dooper chuffed. I've also received the Proximidade award twice and Marieantonette award again too, :o) .

I will do the necessary with the awards a bit later as I'm off on a course at lunchtime and need to get showered, so look out for the edited version later.
Also I'm fast approaching 10,000 hits, so I will be doing a giveaway on here soon, so watch this space.
Catch you later (((((hugs))))) Pixiedust. xx

EDIT
Now for the award business:-
The authors say that blogs who receive this award are exceedingly charming. This blog invests in proximity in space, time and relationships. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandisement. Our hope is that when ribbons of these awards are cut, even more friendships will be propagated. Please give your kind attention to these writers.
How lovely is that!
Now I have yo deliver this award to 8 bloggers who will then choose 8 more and include the above cleverly written text to the body of the award.
Heres my chosen 8.

Valentines Day Swap Parcel Arrives.....

Well what can I say.......when the door bell dinged this morning, I was beside myself with excitement, as it could only be one thing.......the valentine swap parcel from Mel Mel. I'm not sure if we were supposed to wait to open them, but I honestly don't think I could. I couldn't wait to rip the paper open. Mind you, look how prettily wrapped it is, its almost a shame to rip the paper.......
I gasped with joy when I saw what was inside. A beautiful Emma Bridgewater shopping bag. This will be most treasured, I love Emma Bridgewater stuff.
And inside the bag, an array of beautifully wrapped gifts. All with lovely messages and pink ribbon attached.

Isn't this heart stunning! I love it Mel.

and look at these little brooches which are destined to adorn my coat, along with the knitted flower brooch that Josie-Mary made me for the cosy night in swap.

And look, a Mrs Beeton book. I love baking, and this will come in very handy indeed. Watch this space for pics of all the goodies I will make.

Thanks Mel for this beautifully made heart and cath kidston bath melt. xxxx

And some lovely pink quality street to munch while admiring my pressies. A very big Thank you to Mel for my lovely Valentine Swap Parcel, it really made my day. xxxxx I'm still working on yours as Mel, I'm making you something special that I hope you will like.

Saturday Morning....

Well, its Saturday morning and its grey and gloomy outside, and it would have been the first day since Christmas to have a lie in, but........can't sleep :o(. So I'm up early and I've been reading some blogs instead. I think I kept hubby up a lot last night with my constant coughing and I woke this morning with my right eye completely glued down, so it looks like I've got conjunctivitis to boot. I'm sick of feeling poorly at the moment, its been one bug after another. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people are going through a lot worse, and my bugs are nothing in comparison .....and now I feel all selfish and moany for going on, so I'll shut up about it.

So on a completely different subject, did anyone catch the programme last week sometime about the couple who go around and pick up loose change from the ground and get their friends to do the same? They also regularly check down the back of their sofa in the car etc. Well in the last 22 years they've saved all this change and had collected over £350,000,00 for charity! Wow, I think that's amazing. So in this time of recession and credit crunchdom, I decided to start my own jar, now I'm still quite a bit away from the amount the old couple made, but its a good start I thought.
Look at this pic of my daft dog, talk about a pampered pooch!

Cheap and Cheerful

Take a supermarket Hyacinth.........
Add some vintage china, that just happens to be sitting in the cupboard........

and walla a pretty window display to cheer you up on a gloomy January day, and.......

it only cost a couple of quid. It's amazing what you can do with a bit of imagination.
I'm nursing yet another cold and cough, so keep dosing my self up with paracetamol and honey and lemon :o(.
Off to make a Victoria sponge in a minute for hubby, catch you later.

A productive weekend......

Hi Folks, sorry I haven't posted for the last week, just been busy and trying to get back into the routine of work and such. Had a good weekend, took mum out shopping and to the bank Saturday, and we popped into a couple of charity shops. I picked up a nice fleece for £3 mum paid £2, and a nice t-shirt for Mr Pixie for a £1. We had a look around the market and I got a nice chicken for dinner Saturday, and the cockle man was there so I had to have a tub of cockles they are my favourite treat. :o)

Sunday we went for a lovely walk to the Forest of Bere with Woody, and hubbys friend and his springer came too. We met lots of other springer's in the woods, its amazing how different they all look. Later that day I finally got the lemon curd and Seville orange marmalade made that I've been wanting to do for ages. Got 6 jars of lemon curd done and 13 jars of marmalade, took bloomin ages, didn't finish until 10.00pm.

I've also been trying to be more organised with the shopping and plan our dinners for the week so we don't waste so much food and save money. I think we ate pretty well last week, Monday we had Lasagna for lunch and boiled eggs and soldiers for tea, we had the leftover lasagna for tea Tuesday, beef stew and dumplings Wednesday, corned beef hash on Thursday and finished it off Friday, roast chicken dinner Saturday and cauliflower and macaroni cheese Sunday. I also made a big batch of watercress soup up yesterday which is now in the freezer for whenever we need a quick and tasty meal. My thrifty plans will continue this week so watch this space.

Below are some pics of our lovely walk in the forest on Sunday.

Woody dancing on ice!!!!!!!

Yep he's not in the water he's on it.

If you look really closely you should be able to see a squirrel.
